The Next New Thing

     Personally, I think in the near future, the new social media will continuously being very popular to every Internet user.
     The new way of media should be classifying to different interest group of people, such as traveling, shopping, moving watching, music sharing and so on in the worldwide span. So users can group themselves into interest group and meet others in the same interest group. So they can interact with other users together to travel and shop or other activities. Of course the communication style still will be the combination of texting, pictures, voice, camera chatting, video sharing and such. This function in fact already using by some of social media web providers, but is not in the very specific area of dividing interest groups. So in the near future this function must be developed by some specific social media apps with some specific interest group of user to use. Currently, DEDE Taxi is one app that provides taxi riders in the same city to share taxi with other riders with similar direction to reduce commute fees.
      Of course, in another 10 or 20 years with new technology new social media would appear instead of current/old social media. Technology could make everything possible with Chrono Cross technology. New social media always follows one step after the new technology. I hope in another 10 or 20 years we can be the witnesses to the new technology changes and new social media changes.

     P2P stands for Peer-to-Peer, and it is a type of file sharing between hardware and software without passing a server. P2P is so popular online file sharing, such as Kazza, BitTorrent and Skype that use P2P to transfer files and data messages.
    P2P allows user to download and sharing files freely in a very fast speed, the more user to download and share to speed of file sharing is faster. However, there are so much “illegal traffic” and very big Internet crowd share files freely, such as illegal music and videos downloading and sharing (Thompson).
    As the illegal issue become more and more obviously of P2P files sharing, there are more government regulations and protections to the copyright holders. DRM stands for digital rights management that is uses for controlling copying with copy protection, copy prevention to prevent copyright infringement (Wikipedia).

Privacy and Confidentiality

    As the new media age comes that information sharing are being very popular and therefore bring us a big issue of privacy and confidentiality. Online activities in some degree have exposed privacy and confidentiality.
    But what should be the balance and in what degree that an individual or organization’s information to keep in protection? It is hard to define the right amount of information and protection to be balanced. So in most of social media webpages and apps that user can choose to limit of users to view or replay for. Users can also choose to add or delete who are be the friends to share that information, or can put someone on the blocked list. Those are DRM, digital right management control.
    Privacy is more about to an individual desire to control the access of other online users to themselves. And the confidentiality is more about how online services providers that protect private information with care.

Creativity and New Media



Second Community is a virtual world. I created my own avatar with my own preference of dress, skin type, eye color and so on. I can approach to people and looking for specific location and chat with people. It also allows me sharing with Facebook, Twitter and Flickr with other friends.

      Virtual world could be very helpful for creativities.  But how?  In the virtual world basically people can do anything they can do like in the real world by inmagination.  So people can be an avatar like a doctor working in the hospital or a patient going to see a doctor in the hospital. Like the game Avatar II: The Hospital.  Even more, business can have virtual meetings just in front of their own computers through virtual community Second Life the Virtual Office.
      Virtual world also could be very educational and informal to kids through 3D world exploring.  There are games such as Minecraft and Tinkatolli that inspired kids to be creative thinking, moving and creating. There are also a lot of apps that let kids make their own desert, pizza, and ice cream; also can let kids dress their own dolls, makeup their own models.

Modeling Reality With Virtual Worlds

Virtual Worlds


Virtual world is the place people can put their ideas and thinking on the digital world.  There are massively multiplayer online who are created a personal avatar and simultaneously and independently explore the virtual world and interact and communicate with each other. Virtual world is in the 3D environment.
There are a lot of computer games are 3D virtual world games, such as Minecraft, League of Legends and much more on Second Life computer game company’s web.  Therefore, people would automatically think about more on 3D computer games when “virtual” appears to head.  In fact, there are good things and bad things about the virtual world we should think critically.

Pros:
·      Virtual world can be very creative for users to export the virtual world and explore the new area.
·      Users can be informed and gain knowledge by exploring virtual world, Such as “Avatar II: The Hospital”
In the virtual world, users can develop different  personality and any activities then the real world. User can learn to cooperate with teams.

·      Virtual world can be used to modeling and designing. Like game Minecraft.
·      Victual provides the new opportunities for business.
·      Victual world model can be used by defense purpose.
·      Victual world could be thinking like psychological healing spaces and healing people.

Cons:
·      Unrealistic
·      Addictive
·      Huge gaps between virtual world and real world
·      Virtual world being critical by money laundry and other online crimes.
·      Some new business base on virtual world failures.


In the future, I think virtual world could continue to grow and develop.  Because is the great tool modeling and help human real society development. Virtual world technologies have the great potential to develop the new business model and offers opportunities.
